The people who make the difference

The best people to explore a subject with are those who love it. Our specialists include archaeologists, Egyptologists, horticulturalists, historians, garden designers, broadcasters and writers. They bring knowledge, enthusiasm and their own perspective to every journey, helping you notice the details and discover the stories behind the places you visit.

Many research, excavate or work in those places, and some have written the books about them. Just as importantly, they enjoy sharing what they know, welcoming your questions and making their subjects fascinating whether you’re new to them or have been interested for years.

Our Guide Lecturers and Tour Managers travel with you throughout your holiday. There’s time for conversations to develop, connections to emerge between visits and everyone to get to know one another. Their company becomes part of what makes the holiday memorable.

Explore with people who have spent their lives uncovering the stories you’ve travelled to hear.

Meet your experts: your questions answered

Your holiday is led by a Guide Lecturer or Tour Manager, sometimes both. Depending on the itinerary, one person combines specialist knowledge with looking after the practical arrangements, or two people share those roles.

Our specialists include archaeologists and Egyptologists, horticulturalists and garden designers, historians, and experts in art and architecture. Many bring first-hand experience of researching or working in the places you visit. In some destinations, local guides contribute their knowledge too.

Yes. Your Guide Lecturer or Tour Manager travels with the group throughout, so there’s time to ask questions, follow up on something you’ve seen and continue conversations between visits.

Once confirmed, the Guide Lecturer or Tour Manager is listed with the departure details. Some holidays also feature guest specialists who join for all or part of the itinerary.

Not at all. Some guests are exploring a new interest; others have enjoyed the subject for years. Our specialists welcome both, explain things clearly and make room for everyone’s questions.
