All the expertise, at a gentler pace

Our Relaxed tours give you more time to enjoy each place, with specialist insight and a less intensive daily programme. Days are designed around later starts and earlier finishes, with fewer hotel changes and usually one hotel as your base. That means more time to settle in and appreciate the places you have come to see.

You'll visit fewer places in a day, with time to explore each more deeply. A specialist Guide Lecturer travels with you throughout alongside a dedicated Tour Manager, and groups are limited to a maximum of 18 guests. Check the individual itinerary for the daily schedule, hotel arrangements and activity level.

Some places deserve a little longer. So do the stories behind them.

Relaxed Kyrenia

Relaxed Kyrenia

Beautiful Cyprus, traditionally the birthplace of the Goddess of love, Aphrodite, has attracted many unwanted suitors over the years. With the lovely harbour of Kyrenia serving as our base, we enjoy a leisurely tour of the archaeological sites of the north of the island, from the ancient port city of Soli with its impressive Roman mosaics to the medieval fortress of St Hilarion, perched dramatically on the Kyrenia mountain range. The landscape itself tells the story of successive civilisations all set against the backdrop of the Mediterranean's azure waters and the rugged beauty of the northern Cypriot coast.

Wandering its serpentine streets, discovering intertwined Roman, medieval and Renaissance architecture, offers a uniquely immersive historical experience unlike anywhere else. Roman specialist and award-winning guide, John Shepherd, leads us overground, underground and all around the key sites in this lovely laid-back Mediterranean city.

Relaxed Lycia

Relaxed Lycia

Tucked into the southwestern corner of Turkey, where the Taurus Mountains tumble down to meet the impossibly blue waters of the Mediterranean, lies ancient Lycia. This tour, based in the charming harbour town of Kaş, invites you to explore the remarkable legacy of the people of this region, who built towering rock tombs into cliffsides, established one of antiquity's earliest democratic federations and left behind a constellation of ruined cities dotted along the Turquoise coast. This is a tour for those who like relaxed exploration, where ancient theatres frame views of the sea, where you might have a site almost to yourself and where the journey between ruins is as pleasurable as the ruins themselves.

With relaxed pacing and time to soak up the rhythms of modern Greek life, this tour offers a richly layered introduction to a lesser-visited corner of the Peloponnese. Combining archaeological insight, literary connections and striking coastal landscapes, it promises an immersive and deeply rewarding experience for travellers eager to explore Greece beyond the familiar.

Relaxed Trier

Relaxed Trier

Set among the vineyards of the Moselle Valley, Trier reveals an extraordinary Roman legacy alongside layers of medieval and modern history. Once a powerful imperial capital, the city is home to remarkably preserved monuments including the Porta Nigra and Aula Palatina, while excursions beyond Trier uncover the region’s fascinating Celtic and Roman past. Admire the spectacular gladiator mosaic at Villa Nennig, explore the vast Celtic hillfort at Otzenhausen and visit the remains of Villa Borg. A day in UNESCO-protected Luxembourg adds another perspective on the region’s living history, while a tasting of local Riesling provides a suitably relaxed way to experience the character of the Moselle. This is an archaeological journey where remarkable sites, beautiful landscapes and centuries of history come together.

Relaxed tours: your questions answered

The structure of the day: a gentler programme, typically later starts and earlier finishes, fewer hotel changes and usually one hotel base. Check your itinerary for the exact arrangements.

You may visit fewer places each day, but have longer to enjoy each one, ask questions and appreciate the details. The itinerary shows what you will see.

A specialist Guide Lecturer shares their knowledge throughout, alongside a dedicated Tour Manager who takes care of the practical arrangements.

A maximum of 18 guests.

Not necessarily. Relaxed describes the pace and structure of the days, not how physically demanding the visits are. Some tours may still involve uneven ground or walking. Always check the activity level and individual itinerary.

Whether you’re travelling on your own or with someone else, you’ll share the journey with people who have similar interests and opportunities for conversation along the way.
