Travelling alone, in good company

Travelling solo means you can choose the holiday that follows your interests. With Specialist Journeys, you’ll explore alongside people who share them, with plenty to talk about from the first visit to the conversations over dinner.

Whether this is your first solo holiday or you regularly travel on your own, shared interests offer a natural starting point for getting to know one another. A discovery made together or a conversation between visits can become as memorable as the places themselves.

Your Guide Lecturer or Tour Manager travels with you throughout, helping you feel welcome and taking care of the practical arrangements. There’s company when you

Come for what you love. Share it with people who understand why.

Solo travel tours: your questions answered

Solo travellers are a familiar part of our groups, although the mix varies by departure. Whether others arrive on their own, as couples or with friends, you’ll have shared interests to start the conversation.

They’ll welcome you, introduce you to other guests and help everyone get to know one another. Whether it’s a chat over coffee or a conversation at dinner, there are opportunities to join in without feeling you have to be sociable all the time.

Not always. Selected departures have no single supplement, while others offer a reduced one. Explore our no single supplement holidays and check the departure details for available rooms and prices.

That depends on the itinerary and tour style. Free time is yours to spend exploring independently, relaxing or enjoying the company of others. Essential tours offer more independence, while Signature tours have a fuller guided programme.

Solo travellers are welcome across our tour styles. Start with the subjects and destinations that interest you, then choose the pace and balance of guided visits and free time you enjoy. If it’s your first holiday on your own, a shorter UK or European tour can be a good place to start.

Check the activity level – Light, Moderate or Active – alongside the tour style, room options and what’s included. Each itinerary sets out the details to help you choose a holiday that suits you.
